Day One is in the preliminary stages of developing a new survivor advocacy group. This group, One Voice, will provide sexual assault survivors with an opportunity to join together in advocacy, with public speaking
opportunities at its core.
One Voice will provide a specialized survivor speaker training, offering techniques and opportunities to
share experiences through media interviews, educational programs, legislative testimony and legal advocacy.
For several years now, Day One has received requests for the formation of such a group. These requests
have come from survivors seeking an outlet to let their voice be heard and from members of the public who want to hear first-hand, the perspective of a survivor. This advocacy group will provide a link between
these groups, and will help facilitate statewide communication on sexual assault. Through education, awareness, empowerment and service, this group will join survivors together to educate the community
and work as one voice aligned, to end sexual violence.
