holiday event, the Wayland Square Business Association will collect Teddy Bears and donations for Day One, the Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center.
The Windows Around the Square event will kick-off on Friday, November 30 at 5:00 p.m. with a Teddy Bear drive for Day One. Shoppers who bring a new teddy bear or donate at least $20.00 to Day
One will receive a card inviting them to save 10% at participating stores in Wayland Square. Stores will be identified with a teddy bear symbol in their front window.
Throughout the weekend, shoppers will have the opportunity to give to Day One while they find incredible gifts and savings at the more than 30 shops in the Square all while enjoying music, food and holiday festivities.
"We're thrilled with the way our new neighbors, the shop owners of Wayland Square, have embraced us," said Day One Executive Director Peg Langhammer. "We are so pleased with the relationship that has developed."
Teddy bears are collected and given to every child who receives clinical services or participates in the Children's Advocacy Center at Day One. The bears make their experience less traumatic and give them a
sense of comfort. The Children's Advocacy Center is a community partnership of professionals committed to both the pursuit of truth in child abuse investigations and the well being of the child. In 2006, 235
children and families received services from the CAC.
