Your Voice, Your View contest. The schools and schedule are as follows:
- Central High School in Providence
– Thursday, January 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Providence Academy of International Studies
– Thursday, January 18, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Cranston East High School
– Friday, January 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Street Teams are comprised of radio and TV personalities and staff as well as prevention educators from Day One. The 3 sites were selected at random from 12 participating schools. All of the schools
involved in the contest will receive a workshop from Day One to assist and motivate participants in the development of their 60-second radio or 30-second TV spot.
The winning ads will air on 92 PRO-FM/HOT 106 and FOX Providence during the month of April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The contest is open to teenagers around Rhode Island who want to
make their voices heard by encouraging their peers to prevent sexual violence. In its second year, the contest has expanded to include, in addition to radio ads, the creation of TV spots, thanks to the
participation of sponsor FOX Providence this year. Last year's winning ad was produced by the Woonsocket Area Career & Technical Center. It touched on
the root causes of sexual violence, presented men as positive role models (in violence prevention), rejected a culture infused with violence, and creatively captured listeners' attention. About Day One
Day One's mission is to reduce the prevalence of sexual abuse and violence, and to support and advocate for those affected by it. For more than 30 years, Day One has been on the forefront of efforts to end
sexual violence in R.I. Established in 1973 as the R.I. Rape Crisis Center, Day One is the only agency in R.I. organized specifically to deal with issues of sexual assault as a community concern. For more
