Providence, RI: April 20, 2006 -- An informational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday May 3, 2006, for sexual assault survivors interested in joining One Voice, a survivor advocacy group dedicated to
using public speaking as a vehicle to end sexual violence. The meeting with be held in Providence; location details will be disclosed to registered attendees.
One Voice participants will be trained to conduct media interviews, participate in educational programs, and provide legislative testimony. There is no fee for participation.
A survivor telling her/his personal story helps to dispel common stereotypes and misconceptions and sends a message that survivors can heal and thrive, often making it easier for other survivors to come forward.
